Overview

Mango House Restaurant is a garden restaurant-bar inside a restored 19th-century colonial building at 3 Leyn Baan Cross Street in Galle Fort, Sri Lanka.

Two large mango trees and a leafy courtyard give the setting a calm, shaded feel, and there is a cozy library and lounge area inside. The restaurant is part of the Mango House guesthouse, with open-air dining on deep verandahs. Guests describe a menu that mixes traditional and modern dishes, well presented and tasty. The building sits on a quiet lane a short walk from the Fort’s main sights, so it suits a slow meal or drink after a day of sightseeing.

I booked this place through Booking.com for our holiday in Sri Lanka, and it was a wonderful experience. The location is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and quietβ€”perfect for a relaxing getaway. The customer service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The breakfast was delicious, especially the traditional Sri Lankan coconut roti served with fish and sambol. It was such a tasty and authentic meal, and we truly appreciated it.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay in Sri Lanka. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality! ❀️

Ok. This place I think is a 3 star accommodation. Well, it’s a fantastic 3πŸ”΅. Rooms (and every other area) are very clean.

Our host who is one of 2 managers is one of the most polite, organised and accommodating people I have EVER met.

You want some fresh milk for coffee? No problem
You want your breakfast 1 hour earlier!! Because you have to go to the airport? No problem, I’ll get here earlier. WT?! Soooo grateful.

Bar tender is a lovely older man who you could share your worldly problems with and they would be fixed.

The included breakfast we had choices. OMG ! do the Sri Lankan option. I smiled all day thinking about it.

He has done his country proud. Our last 2 nights in a totally amazing country have been uber-pleasant.

Great value for money. Family of 4 travellers.

I recently visited Mango House Galle and ordered the crab curry with roast paan. The crab curry was decent, and the staff provided good service throughout the meal.

However, I was very disappointed with the pricing. A ginger beer with an MRP of Rs. 150 was charged at Rs. 600, which is four times the retail price. The roast paan pricing was even more surprising. After the initial serving, I requested extra roast paan and received only three slices, for which I was charged Rs. 300. Considering that a whole roast paan is commonly available in the market for around Rs. 25, charging Rs. 300 for a few slices feels extremely excessive.

While I understand that restaurants charge more than retail prices, these markups seemed unreasonable and significantly affected the overall experience. The food was acceptable and the service was good, but the pricing does not reflect fair value for money. I hope the management reviews its pricing policy to provide a better experience for customers.

Omg, that was absolutely our favourite dinner in Sri Lanka. You must try their traditional Sri Lanka dishes and their house cocktails - simply amazing!!
Highly highly recommend this place, suitable also for kids and vegetarians.
We cant wait to return next year.
Not to mention the atmosphere, so so beautiful. And also staff were extremely kind.
Great job to everyone!

This place is beautiful. Cathedral ceilings, vintage furniture, spiritual music playing in the background with a whiff of aroma throughout, flowy muslin drapes, fabulous food & above all perfect service. The place is also perfectly located in the Galle Fort area.

This is a belated post. Stayed here with my husband in 2019 Dec. I want to particularly mention Mr. Pradeep, the hotel manager & the staff. I had left a small pouch with valuables behind at the property by mistake. I got it back from the hotel. I was touched by the honesty of the hotel staff, led by the manager. Kudos to this place :) Must visit!
